Kingdom Hooper × Kids Club Caribe · Costa Rica

Un Niño MásOne more child.

They come for the game.
They leave with a future.

We meet young people in Costa Rica where they already are — on the court — and open a door to faith, leadership, real skills, and a future they didn't think was theirs to build.

The story underneath

This isn't a theory. It already happened to one kid.

Our founder, Alec, grew up with the odds stacked against him — a broken home, real instability, and a lot of nights wondering where he belonged. When the one steady man in his life passed away, he grabbed the only thing that still felt like his: a basketball.

The court became his refuge. It taught him discipline before anyone had to preach it. But the dream he built his whole identity on — a scholarship, a way out — slipped away, and for a while he ran in the wrong directions trying to fill the hole it left.

The turn didn't come from a coach or a contract. With nothing left, he walked out into an empty field at night, dropped to his knees, and finally stopped trying to do it on his own. Nothing changed overnight on the outside. But on the inside, a new heart, a new purpose, and a new Father started rebuilding everything — and from that foundation, doors he could never have forced open began to open. He built a career in enterprise technology and project leadership — the very discipline this mission now runs on.

"The decisions of yesterday brought you to where you are today. The decisions of today will create your future of tomorrow."

Then he started coaching one kid at 5 a.m. — a boy whose why was the same as his had been: I want to provide for my family. One kid became two. Two became a ministry. That's how Kingdom Hooper was born, and it's the exact pattern we now carry into Costa Rica. We come for the game. We stay for the kid.

Basketball is the front door

We don't run a basketball program. We run a pipeline from the court to a calling.

We go where the kids are. For most of them, that's a court — so that's where we start. But the game was never the point. It's how we reach a young person who would never walk into a classroom or a church on their own. Once they're in, the court is just the first rung.

01The hook

The game

A kid shows up to play. No pressure, no lecture — just a reason to walk through the door and a coach who shows up too.

For Alec the court was the refuge that held him when home didn't.

02The root

Faith & identity

Who they are, and Whose they are. The ground everything else is built on — that their past doesn't get the final word, and they don't face it alone.

For Alec it was a night on his knees in an empty field.

03The build

Discipline & health

Body and character, built the same way: showing up, doing the work, learning to lose and get back up. Practice. Practice. Practice.

For Alec it was the one word he chose for himself — persevere.

04The lift

Leadership

Learning to lead themselves first, then others. The point where a kid stops needing the mentor and starts becoming one.

For Alec it was coaching one kid at 5 a.m. — then a whole ministry.

05The future

Real skills — technology, engineering & agriculture

The power to provide, build, and change a family's trajectory. Skills that turn a kid with no options into a builder, a grower, a provider.

For Alec technology was the door that pulled him all the way out.

Why we start there

A kid will show up for a game long before a lecture.

That's exactly why we start on the court. The first lessons land without anyone having to preach them — communication, perseverance, humility, how to trust a teammate. The relationship that forms there is what opens every door after it.

Basketball gets us in. Everything else is what we do once we're inside.

Happening right now · Phase 1

Open doors in Costa Rican schools.

We have open doors in schools today. Through basketball and values-based workshops, we're helping young people build discipline, leadership, and the confidence to lead in their own families and communities.

The goal isn't to show up once and disappear. It's to build recurring relationships with schools, educators, and families — the same grassroots way Pastor Daniel has worked for two decades — while we prepare for the long-term mission.

Pastor Daniel Romero Gonzalez

Local roots · Costa Rica

More than twenty years serving Costa Rican communities through children's ministry, youth outreach, and pastoral care — including grassroots children's ministry work in Sarapiquí. Alongside his wife, Pastora Angie, and their three children, he brings the local trust and wisdom that makes this mission real on the ground.

Alec D. Diaz

Founder · Kingdom Hooper

Founder of Kingdom Hooper. Before this, Alec spent over a decade in enterprise technology — leading global software teams across the U.S., India, and Poland and managing multimillion-dollar initiatives, including regulated delivery for one of the world's largest banks. He's certified in project management, Scrum, and agile leadership, founder of the technology ventures XConvergence and Autonomous AI, and author of The Intergenerational Strategist. He brings that same discipline — real budgets, clear governance, accountable delivery — to this mission, alongside a story that is the mission.

When Daniel's local roots met Kingdom Hooper's mission, a door opened: serve youth now through schools, and prepare for something that can serve families for generations.

Official recognition

Invited by Costa Rica's national children's authority.

In 2026, Costa Rica's National Children's Trust (PANI) formally invited Kingdom Hooper to partner in delivering leadership and life-skills workshops for children and adolescents in Limón, recognizing the organization's impact in serving vulnerable youth through sports, mentorship, and education.

A Spirit-led mission

Built on prayer, local trust, and integrity.

This is a Christian mission, and we're honest about that. We're not sponsored by or deployed by any single church or denomination — we're built through prayer, local relationships, and a desire to serve kids and families with transparency.

We honor the local church and welcome partners of every kind who share the heart to serve children with integrity.

"…by the obedience of one shall many be made righteous."Romans 5:19

Where this is going

The building follows the fruit. First we serve. Then we build.

The long-term vision is the Kids Club Caribe campus — the place where the whole progression finally lives in one place. A covered court at the center where kids first walk in. Classrooms and training rooms for leadership, technology, and engineering. And wrapping it all, working farmland — cacao, coffee, coconut, livestock — where young people and families learn to grow food, steward land, and provide for themselves for generations.

It's not a court with a farm attached. It's an ecosystem where a kid can enter through sport and keep climbing — as far as their calling will take them.

The campus is the progression made physical. The court sits at the center — where kids first walk in. Classrooms and training ring it. The farm wraps the whole thing. A young person moves from the center outward as they grow. Conceptual master plan — built in phases, only as the fruit and the funding confirm it.

Where your gift goes

Every phase builds the next rung of the progression.

We raise in stages so every dollar is tracked, justified, and tied to a specific part of the mission.

Phase 1 · Open the door

School Outreach Launch

Gets us onto the court and into the schools — workshops, equipment, transportation, snacks, printed materials, translation, and the documentation that keeps everything transparent. This is the front door. Everything starts here.

Phase 2 · Secure the ground

Land Acquisition Seed Fund

The land that will hold the whole ecosystem — research, legal review, title checks, surveys, agronomy and utility review, and responsible preparation to acquire it.

$25,000Goal
Phase 3 · Build the center

Tabernacle & Basketball Court Starter Fund

The covered court and tabernacle at the heart of the campus — the gathering place for sports, worship, and community that every other program radiates out from.

Phase 4 · Complete the ecosystem

Facility Expansion

Classrooms, training rooms, kitchen, facilities, farm, and housing that turn the center into the full pipeline — leadership, technology, engineering, health, and agriculture — once land, permits, and design are confirmed.
